Facial Construction.

These two images were created for Foundation Computers. The first shown is created by tracing the tonal shapes of my face in Illustrator. I think I broke the rules a bit by introducing my own colors instead of copying the ones in my face. Oh well.
The second image is derived from the first and created by focusing on the contours of the shapes I created instead of their tone. I think I might like that one more.

Weekend Two, Semester Two

This past weekend saw me back in the swing of BFA things, with work quickly adding up and classes getting serious. On Friday I went to the Wagner Institute on 17th and Montgomery for a drawing assignment based on series and systems. If you've never been, the Wagner Institute is a museum kept in the Victorian tradition with countless specimens locked away in glass cases for you to look at. It's a fantastic resource for an artist, but anyone would enjoy seeing it, at least for a little. It is a bit of a creepy place with all the taxidermy and dead animals staring at you, but that's part of the allure. The photos I added are some of the drawings I've been working on based off of sketches made on site.

Weekend Adventures

This weekend was rather relaxed as all my classes had yet to really kick into full gear. The lull before the storm I fear. So I had plenty of free time to sleep in, space out, and chill with the friends I hadn't seen in a while. The weekend was fun, full of white russians and rum and cokes, but my adventure didn't happen until the week. I set out with Connor to old city to check out book stores, record shops and comic book stores. We had been there already, but that hadn't been since the first friday of last semester. We got to see some great street art, which complimented the East Village-like feel of old city. On our way back from 2nd street we stopped back off in center city to go to Dick Blick art supplies. The location wasn't anything new to us, but the area around it was something I'd never really taken time to look up at and observe. Overall it was a great trip full of dusty book shelves, the ominous looking city hall, and huge statues of Darth Vader.
